Lake Tahoe shopping is everywhere and tailored to every pocketbook. In South Lake Tahoe there are The Shops at Heavenly Village, Ski Run Marina, Crescent V Shopping Center, and the casinos of course. Virtually whatever you want is available here. However, remember that the entire Lake Tahoe area is really an alpine, wilderness wonderland. As you drive north on West Lake Blvd., a.k.a. State 89, the shopping becomes less diverse, concentrating increasingly on sports equipment and clothing or stores selling necessities like grocery or drug stores. Some exceptions are The Boatworks Shopping Mall and the Tahoe City Marina & Mall, both in Tahoe City. Although small, they have a wide range of shops selling everything from CDs, to clothing, to jewelry. At Tahoe City, near the mouth of the Truckee River, State 89 turns away from the lake and towards all those mountain resorts. The highway continuing along the lakeshore is now called North Lake Blvd., a.k.a. State 28. As you pass through the North Shore and get closer to Reno, NV, the shops become more upscale. One thing's for sure: Lake Tahoe shopping is always an adventure!

The Shops at Heavenly Village
It is an important sport in its own right: shopping! Over 40 shops, eateries, and entertainment venues in this complex offer sporting equipment and repair, clothing, art, and family fun. The new 8-Plex cinema brings blockbusters to the mountain. |
